In this wide-ranging interview, which took place in spring 2021, Angela McRobbie talks about her work relation to social politics, the contemporary conjuncture, cultural studies, decolonisation and feminism. Beginning with a discussion on experience of Covid, it contextualises these reflections through anti-welfarism scapegoating dependency, drawing from new book Feminism Politics Resilience. It moves discuss different forms experiences feminism: including neoliberal Anglo-German academic context; legacies queer theory radical feminism; ‘mud-slinging’ media ‘does not allow us time space rehearse what is really going on’; need engage policy alongside theory; ongoing intersectional rewriting curriculum.
